Hmmmm?? :-) No no-one is prejudice here Andrew. I had a good look a couple of days ago and thought about answering and got caught up trying to network my laptop and PC. Still no luck. Will be a call to Microsoft next! Each to their own liking when it comes to HDR. My personal rule of thumb is , if I have to really look hard to tell it has been HDR'd then it is a good HDR. All yours stand out prominently as HDR's and IMHO most are over done. Now thats is not necessarily a bad thng, it is in the eye of the beholder. The fence line rural scene I feel is a good shot for HDR and the church shots are well suited for the effect. The plane and the bride and groom I think are better without it and the scene oc "the Gong" just makes it all look dirty. I think if you choose your photos better for the HDR effect and use a more subtle approach would be a lot better for my liking. But others may totally disagree with me. Now don't take offence please, just expressing my personal view, since you asked so nicely

I don't mind the extreme HDR as an effect but I agree with Ralph, the Bride and Groom shot and the plane shot don't do much for me. The other shots I quite like and I think you have done them well. I also love some of the effects that you can get with LucisArt - a cross between reality and fantasy.
I love photographs which are a perfect rendition of the original scene, but I also love it when photos become art and take on a fantasy feel to them.
Keep playing and experimenting, that's how masterpieces are created.

Thanks guys, I agree with Bride and Groom shot and aircraft shot. Like I said i was experimenting. The plane shot was a very bland through glass shot with 2MP phone camera and I used it because it was the blandest photo in my library to try and somehow improve. The Wollongong harbour shot is a fair shot without HDR Treatment and purposely overdid to make it look more artistic then photographic. Check out http://www.stuckincustoms.com for some awesome obvious HDR. Andrew

I had a play with a combination of LucisArt and Redynamix with mixed results. I still haven't found that fantasy threshold yet but I will keep trying.

That is a strange effect John?
I have never seen or played with the Lucas arts stuff. n fact until last week I had not heard of them.
Are they expensive? What do they do exactly? I have heard from the HDR web site I mentioned above that they are often used in conjunction with Photomatix.
Andrew

I have heard from the HDR web site I mentioned above that they are often used in conjunction with Photomatix. LucisArt is a Plug-in for PS. I can give you a copy or Ralph may even do it if you smile at him nicely. I have only started playing with it and have by no means mastered it. I still have not been able to achieve with it, what effects I have seen done with it, but I'll just have to keep playing with it. I have seen some fantastic shots that can give the whole scene a cross between real and fantasy, almost like the old Dick Tracy comics. I think any Art Deco architecture would come up looking particularly fantastic if I could learn how to use it properly.

For a great example of what HDR and Lucisart can do go to Eric Sorenson's post "What do you think of this guy" and click on the link for the 'Shreveport Photographic Society". There is a shot there called "Abandoned Store" by Wilfred Smith which IMHO is really good.

That is something like what I was trying to achieve but have to learn how to drive it.
