I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our newest member Angie who will be logging on as Cali. I have seen quite a lot of Angie's photos on Flickr and I am very impressed with her work. I believe she comes from west coast USA and I'm sure you will be impressed with her photography. Welcome to our small friendly family Angie, and we look forward to a long friendship.

Let me add to John's warm welcome by saying you will fit right in here. Only invited members can join, so no anonymous trouble makers or spam bots harvesting email addresses here. What it lacks in activity at times it makes up for in friendliness and personal touch. I look forward to seeing your work now it has been praised so highly by John

Thank you so much, John and Ralph, for the very warm welcome. I've been browsing quite a bit just checking things out. I'm a bit relieved that the forum isn't packed with tons of people. I can open up here and not worry about problems such that I've had on Flickr. I'm hoping to have a bit more time in the coming days and weeks to browse and post more. Despite my Flickr page, I am a single mom so working a lot now so I fall short quite often on having enough time in the day. As always, John, thank you for the compliment. It means a lot. I still have a lot to learn and I'm always experimenting and trying new things. John, you've given me some valuable advice such that you did for that one star trail shot with the car coming down Keys View in the distance. I was actually tempted to just put my hand up every time he would come into view. Since it was to be a 45 minute to hour exposure if not a bit longer, it probably would have washed out my hand in no time at all. But the black cloth or paper would have worked so much better.
Thanks you guys for the very warm welcome. I look forward to browsing some more and sharing!!!
Angie

Welcome aboard and post some of those beautiful photos I have been seeing on Flickr. Thank you, John. I'm already enjoying the site!! I also belonged to another photog site but they have like 35,000 members and it's insane the amount of posts. I've found on that site when I would post something that so many other people are also posting that what I ended up posting a few minutes earlier ends up getting buried underneath 4 or 5 pages of other posts and I'm lucky if I get a few replies to it, if at all. I was going to post that black and white Dahlia picture I took today but not on my other computer as of now. I really fancy that shot. I played with it enough to try to get that Infrared look to it. That's another area of photography I am most interested in but I haven't tested my camera yet if it is a good candidate for it, I'm sure it is though, and picking it up in addition to the filters that they have for Infrared shots.

You should get on well with Dusty. She has done quite a lot of infrared shots using a special filter on the lens. I am sure she can give you some good advice.
